SERVICES

Criminal Defense

We are skilled in all misdemeanor cases and have many successful outcomes in, among others, DUI, domestic violence, and drug cases. We also have deep experience handling complex legal matters such as pre-trial representation, appeals, plea bargaining, bond hearings and bail, expungements and record sealing, temporary restraining orders, probation violations and modifications, and alternative sentencing advocacy.

Pre-trial Representation and Case Evaluation: Reviewing the details of a case before trial to assess the strength of the evidence, potential defenses, and the best legal strategy. At this stage, we may also negotiate with prosecutors for reduced charges or a favorable plea deal.

Plea Bargaining: Okni will negotiate with the prosecution to secure a plea deal. This might involve a reduction in charges, a more lenient sentence, or alternative sentencing options like probation, diversion programs, or community service, in exchange for a guilty or no contest plea.

Bond Hearings and Bail: We represent clients in bond hearings, working to secure reasonable bail or argue for our client's release pending trial. We also help clients seek bail reductions.

Expungements and Record Sealing: We can help our clients clear their criminal records through expungement or sealing of records, which can improve their ability to find employment or housing and remove the stigma of a criminal conviction.

Appeals: If a client is convicted, Okni can handle the appeals process, seeking to overturn a conviction or reduce the sentence by identifying legal errors , or presenting new evidence that could change the outcome.

Probation Violations and Modifications: We often represent clients accused of violating the terms of their probation. In these cases, we advocate for modifications of probation terms if a client faces challenges in complying with the conditions.

Alternative Sentencing Advocacy: In certain cases, we can work to secure alternative sentencing options for our clients, such as drug or mental health treatment programs, rather than incarceration. This may involve negotiating for diversion programs or specialized courts (e.g., drug courts, veterans courts) that focus on rehabilitation.

Family Law

Restraining Orders and Protective Orders: We are skilled in obtaining temporary restraining orders (TROs) and permanent protective orders, in cases of harassment, abuse, or threats. We have also represented restrained parties facing charges as a result of violating restraining orders.

Domestic Violence Cases: We have represented clients accused of domestic violence as criminal matters, and are familiar with plea negotiation in this context.
